LINE: Blue Ribbon -1
An average scoring difference of less than 1 point-per-week separates these two teams this season and each of them are in the top 4 among the highest scoring teams in the league. Simply put, they're good. The last time these divisional foes faced off in the playoffs was 2017 and Chief Sticky Balls came away with the victory, 126 - 115, on their way to title town. And in their most recent contest, back in week 6, the Sticky Balls posted 142 points, their second highest score of the season, and a win. Moreover, Chief Sticky Balls has been the victor in their last 3 meetings against Blue Ribbon. But things haven't always been so rosy for Chief Sticky Balls. Throughout the history of their rivalry, Blue Ribbon has won 5 of 6 games when visiting the Nether Region. In fact, most teams have seen success when going down to the Balls. With a woeful 1 - 3 all-time playoff record at home, the Balls might be sweating at the idea of something blue coming at them. With this game being the first time Blue Ribbon will take to the road in the playoffs anything could happen, but I'm inclined to go with the projections.
COMMISH'S PICK: Blue Ribbon
LINE: Who Is You -5
When you consider the fact that the Thunda Buddies have lost their last 4 games, and Who Is You has won their last 3, you begin to see why the Buddies are the underdog despite outscoring You by more than two TD's per week this season. The last time these two squared off in the playoffs was back in 2016, also the last time Thunda Buddies made it to the post-season. On their way to winning the title that season, the Thunda Buddies defeated Who Is You by a single point, 115 - 114, in the second round. During the regular season, the Buddies have pretty much had their way with You, boasting a 7-3 record against them at Flash Gordon Field, including a 121 - 113 defeat in week 2. With solid rosters on both sides of the ball, there should be no shortage of points in this contest. Both teams could easily top the 120-point mark, and I expect it will be a fun game to follow. Who Is You has certainly had the hot hand lately but, in 4 tries, no team has ever beaten the Thunda Buddies while on the road in the playoffs. And, I don't think that changes this week.
COMMISH'S PICK: Thunda Buddies
