I guess that's why we have to play the games. Because, even if you are a #1 seed and you get to enjoy the benefit of a first-round bye, you still have to go out there and earn your trip to the Championship Game.
In case you've been under a rock, or on a bender after 4 days of sobriety, both of the top seeds were toppled this week.
In the Cactus Division Championship, Who Is You pulled off the unthinkable against the top scoring team in the league. Heading into the contest as a 9-point underdog, You not only needed to score more than their season average, but they also needed their defense to hold and slow the Chops down. By the end of the weekend, You would score 15 points more than their average and knock the Pork Chop Express off it's tracks, holding them to just 86 points - their lowest score of the season.
The Sagebrush Division Championship offered up two teams more closely matched and a slightly better finish. For the most part, the game remained relatively close until it wasn't. Throughout the day, on Sunday, McMingle was able to keep pace until they reached the afternoon games when Kenyan Drake and Tyreek Hill decided not to show up in the way they have all season. For Chief Sticky Balls, it wasn't their best performance but, in the end, they got the job done and earned a chance to defend their title.
Congratulations to Who Is You and Chief Sticky Balls, and good luck in the Championship game.
Baby Got Dak was able to increase their lead on Who Is You by 35 more points. They now sit ahead of them by 52 points heading into the final week. For all intents and purposes, it looks as though this contest is theirs provided there are no Christmas miracles in the making.
Not much changed in the Pigskin Pick'Em contest this week. Chief Sticky Balls still holds a 7-game lead over Baby Got Dak and increased their lead over Pork Chop Express by 1. Barring a perfect week from Baby Got Dak, Pork Chop Express, or even Badazz Bri, this contest doesn't offer much excitement over the final two weeks.
Another .500 week in the books after my worst week of the season. Fear not, I will absolutely get the correct pick in the Championship Game.
My final Waiver Wire Team scored 171 points, topping all others in the league. Seems a perfect way to head into the final week of the season and the final Waiver Wire team.
Good luck in the final week!
