Finally, We Have A Winner

Writer's picture: CommishCommish

That was certainly not the season-ending storyline I had on my bingo card. What began as an ordinary final week to our season took a dark turn last Monday night when Damar Hamlin suffered a terrible heart attack on the field, ending the Bills/Bengals game.

In the early days following the incident, all eyes and hearts were exclusively focused on him as everyone wanted nothing more than to see Damar come to and begin a full recovery. Though it took some time, word slowly trickled out about his progress and on Friday we all received the great news: Damar was conscious and breathing on his own. While we don't know if there will be any lasting effects of his injury, we're all grateful that he's on the mend and hopeful that we'll see him on the field again.

With the NFL's decision to cancel the Bills/Bengals game, fantasy leagues everywhere - including ours - were left scrambling to come up with an alternative solution to finish their seasons. After all, this wasn't just any ordinary week, this was Championship Week for almost every league and there was a lot riding on it.

Fortunately, our league owners showed great patience, understanding, and compromise in coming together on a conference call to figure out how we would handle this predicament. The result of that call was a solution where Bills and Bengals players would use their week 18 scores as a replacement for the missing week 17 scores.

Week 18 scores for Bills and Bengals players that were used to calculate week 17 game results.

The individual player scores have been manually applied and all games across both leagues are now final. Please note, you will not see the scores above reflected on the player, rather, you will see a net score adjustment to the team total. In Sleeper, where players still showed partial points for the cancelled game, those were accounted for and only the difference was applied to the matchup.

With that out of the way...

Congratulations to our league champions, Baby Got Dak and Chubby Chase, as well as our runners-up, Jergoff Passout and The Real Slim Brady. All four of these teams put together outstanding seasons and should be proud of the way their players performed.

Additionally, I'd like to congratulate our 3rd place winners, Thundabuddies and TJONES35 as well as our Consolation Bracket winners, Los Perros Locos and Tallaassee Tator Tots.

Finally, and most importantly, I want to congratulate and thank each of you for playing in our leagues. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it and look forward to returning next season where we'll feature a new - and very unique - event pitting the Sagebrush Cactus League against the SCL Segundo League: the SCL Pro Bowl. Stay tuned...

I will be sending out final invoices to every owner shortly so keep an eye out for my email.
