Not Even Close

The first round of postseason play ended with more of a thud than I expected, particularly the playoff games in the winner's bracket.

The contest between Los Perros Locos and Who Is You seemed like it was going to be a very close matchup. After all, the wise men and women over at ESPN had that game listed as an even matchup, and I was foolish enough to agree with them.

During the early stages of the game, it looked like it was headed in that direction with Los Perros holding on to a slight lead through the first half of the morning games despite Allen Robinson checking in with 17 in the Thursday night game. However, during the 4th quarter of the early games, Perros' players came to life in a big way leading to a 127-21 lead before the afternoon games. Amazingly, this happened while Perros defense, 49ers, scored -9 points in a shoot-out with New Orleans.

Joe Mixon (29 pts) had his best game of the season and helped Perros stick it to Who Is You.

Los Perros kept Mahomes and company in check while Winston, Mixon, and Thomas led the way to a crushing 93-point victory. With the exception of the 49ers defense, every single one of Perros players outperformed their projections.

The situation in the Sagebrush matchup between Hit Em With The Hein!!! and Flash Dem TD's seemed to play out similarly.

The Steelers D/ST (27 pts) led TD's to a convincing win over Hein!!!.

Hein!!! was able to keep the game close late into the early round of NFL games, but once the 4th quarter of those games rolled around, TD's seized their opportunity and opened up a 87-52 point lead heading into the afternoon and Monday games. By the time the afternoon games were over, Flash Dem TD's had extended their lead 111-87 with only Golden Tate left to play on Monday night for Hein!!!.

And like a bride-to-be left at the alter, Hein!!!'s bromance left them high and dry. Though it wasn't likely, it was possible for Tate to score the 24 points needed to secure the victory. But instead, he scored only 1.

There were blowouts around the rest of the league as well. In fact, of the other 3 contests, the closest was Baby Got Dak's 24-point loss to Badazz Bri in the Bottom-Feeder Bowl.

If you took the time to average out the results of every matchup - and I know you did - you'd already know the average margin of victory this week was 49.8 points.

It wasn't even close.

The first round of postseason play was pretty good to me. I finished 4-1 in my picks with Hein!!! being my only incorrect pick. My season record is now 52-31.

This week's Waiver Wire Team was one of the best of the season with 225 points. There seems to be more talent available than I expected which could help some of these playoff teams that lost players to injury this week.

Good luck this week!
