The Highs And Lows

Obviously, if you had Joe Mixon in your lineup this week, you won. Regardless of what league you're in, ours or another, it is nearly impossible to lose when one of your players scores 5 TDs.

And though that's an incredible performance, Mixon's 55 points is not quite enough to earn a spot on our top 10 individual scores of all-time - it's barely a top 15 score. In fact, it's not even the highest score of this season. That honor belongs to Lamar Jackson with 56 points in week 2.

Joe Mixon had a day on Sunday with 5 TDs giving him the 10th best score for a RB in SCL history.

Mixon's outstanding day gave us our third 55+ point performance this year.

"Wait, who's the third one?"

For those of you that aren't paying attention, Justin Fields also scored 55 points this week. That's right, the fantasy footballs gods gifted us two incredible performances in the same week! Unfortunately though, Fields' historical day went to waste as he's currently available in both of our leagues, and probably available in just about any other league that doesn't use the super flex position.

While we're all impressed, and a little surprised, at Fields' output this weekend, what should probably shock everyone is the fact that he is the #1 fantasy QB over the past three weeks. Yes, you read that right...the same Justin Fields that averaged 6.3 pts/gm in weeks 2 through 4 is performing at an elite level right now.

Can't wait to see who accidentally places a $100 waiver bid for Fields this week.

Over the past three weeks, Fields has scored 109 points which is 22 more than Joe Burros (87 pts) and Tua Tagovailoa (79 pts).

"Wait a second, Commish. Some of the best QBs have had bye weeks. That's not a fair comparison."

Fine...instead of the last three weeks, let's look at the last three games played.

Patrick Mahomes has scored 94 points in his last three games while Jalen Hurts has scored 75 and Josh Allen has 74. Fields has outscored all of them over the course of their last three games played.

Turning from the individual to the team performance, did you guys see what The Real Slim Brady did this week? Oh, you did? Are you sure?

While most of you noticed Slim Brady score 157 points, I imagine there are few - maybe even Brady themselves - that realize it was the third time this season they've topped 150. To put that into perspective, only two other teams have scored more than 150 points in a week this season - Chubby Chase and BattleBornKid - and they've each done it once.

If I asked you to name the Segundo teams that are hot right now, you'd probably call out the obvious names like The Real Slim Brady and TJONES35. But Jalenhouse Rock and BattleBornKid should be added to that list too.

Both have won their last three contests and are knocking on the playoff door. In fact, Jalenhouse Rock is tied for first place in the Cholla division but, with four 5-win teams, who isn't.

Over in the Sagebrush Cactus League, I warned you all not to sleep on Baby Got Dak. After losing three straight in weeks 4 through 6, Dak has won their last three and they're averaging 126.7 pts/gm.

One of the biggest surprises over the past few weeks has been the turnaround by Los Perros Locos. They began the season with one win in five games but have since won four straight to find themselves back in playoff contention..."I'm not dead, yet."

As far as lows go, it doesn't get much worse than what we're seeing from Chief Sticky Balls and My Chubb's Hardman.

The Sticky Balls have lost their last five games after beginning the season 3-1 and they've seen their average score plummet from 109.8 pts/gm in their first four to just 74.6 pts/gm over their last five. What began as another good season from a quality team has quickly turned into a desperation heave to get back into the playoff race with only five weeks left.

There's no question that Justin Herbert hasn't played to his potential this season, but there's another player that stands out to me; Amon-Ra St. Brown. Through the first three weeks of the season, St. Brown tallied 54 points for an average of 18 pts/gm. But after sitting out in week 4 with a concussion, St. Brown has totaled only 13 points. That's an average of 3.3 pts/gm over his last four.

Maybe St. Brown is still concussed.

Though they're scoring more than the Sticky Balls, My Chubb's Hardman has lost six straight. Admittedly, I haven't done the math but I'm gonna guess that there's a chance they're already eliminated from the playoffs. If not, they'll certainly need to win out to have a chance and my gut tells me they still may need help from other teams in the league.

With four out of our last five regular season weeks featuring divisional matchups, there's still plenty of opportunity for teams on a high to blow it and teams stuck in a rut to climb their way out.

GOLDEN TICKET CHALLENGE

It looks like we're going to see a 4-way race to the finish line in this contest. The Golden Tate Warriors are holding on to their lead by the slimmest of margins. Sitting just 9 points behind are the Thundabuddies with the Tallaassee Tator Tots and Pork Chop Express just 50 and 54 points behind, respectively. Some of the players that will likely decide this contest include Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley, Stefon Diggs, Josh Jacobs, and Nick Chubb.

SURVIVOR CHALLENGE

Averaging almost 123 pts/gm and leading your league in scoring is impressive. But if you score 103 points this late in the season, that might be all it takes to see you eliminated from the Survivor Challenge as Jergoff Passout found out this week.

Over in the Segundo League, things finally caught up with Ohio State Gunkeyes. They haven't been the highest scoring team in the league but, for a while, they weren't the lowest either. However, their 112 points this week was lowest among the four remaining contests and they were voted off the island.

PIGSKIN PICK'EM CHALLENGE

The Real Slim Brady and NH Bounty Hunters tallied 11 of 13 correct picks this week and while Brady is clearly playing for the perfect week at this point, the Bounty Hunters used that performance to jump four spots in the standings and close in on our leader, Golden Tate Warriors.

With 10 of 13 correct picks this week, the Warriors opened up their lead over Thundabuddies to three games. Tied with the Buddies are We're on to Cleveland! and Badazz Bri.

WEEKLY SCORE WINNERS

Highest Score: NH Bounty Hunters (153 pts) and The Real Slim Brady (157 pts)

Highest Score - Loss: Pork Chop Express (119 pts) and Shiva Kaminis (126 pts)

Lowest Score - Win: Los Perros Locos (98 pts) and Jalenhouse Rock (82 pts)

COMMISH'S PICKS

I didn't take the time to update my pick results last week and now I wish I would have. In week 8 I finished 10-2 which is my best week of the season.

This week, I had one more incorrect pick leaving me at 9-3. However, what really makes week 9 special is the fact that I was a perfect 6-0 in my Sagebrush Cactus League picks. Finally!

With 19 of 24 correct picks over the last two weeks, my winning percentage in Sagebrush Cactus is .556 and in Segundo it's .537.

Good luck in week 10!

-- Commish
