Week 2 Commish's Picks

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

Chief Sticky Balls is the #1 team in the Power Rankings and they showed they deserve that status with a big win against a solid Blue Ribbon team last week. Badazz Bri, on the other hand, struggled against a team they've had no problems with in the past. I expect Bri shows up this week and a quick look at their player matchups suggests they should have no problem putting up over 115 pts. Question is: Will it be enough to smother the Balls?

COMMISH'S PICK: Badazz Bri

With the exception of one game in the past 5 seasons, every time these two face off, it has been decided by at least 30 points. And, more often than not, Blue Ribbon has been on the winning side of those scores. They're just not usually close games. Which probably explains why they're favored by 15 this week. If history has anything to say about this matchup, you're probably OK to stick with Blue Ribbon and tease that line up to 25.

COMMISH'S PICK: Blue Ribbon

The last time these two met was week 6 of last season. It did not go well for Perros as Who Is You more than doubled them up 146 - 72. And after Who Is You rolled Baby Got Dak last week, 110 - 46, you might believe it could happen again. I disagree. In fact, there is a part of me that thinks Perros could actually win this game. Then again, maybe it's just indigestion.

COMMISH'S PICK: Who Is You

Baby Got Dak would surely like to forget about last week. Mustering only 49 points in their first game after finishing 2nd in the league, it looks like the curse of the Super Bowl Hangover hit them hard. They'll certainly be able to score more this week. Right? If Sammy Watkins has another big day, I think they're on their way to 115 or more. If not, they'll have a hard time keeping up with a Thundabuddies team that showed they can score, despite losing last week. If Thundabuddies puts up another 130-point performance, forget about it. But, if Dak can hold them to less 110 or less, they'll have a shot. Just not one I'm willing to take.

COMMISH'S PICK: Thundabuddies

The early money says Pork Chop's shouldn't have a problem in this matchup. ESPN has them listed as nearly double-digit favorites and I can probably guess why. It's been 3 years since Bounty Hunters beat the Chop's (or whatever other team name they were using at the time) and they're a paltry 3 - 7 against them all-time. But, Pork Chop's had a tough time last week barely squeaking by Thundabuddies and I think they'll come out a little flat after spending all that energy. I'm going with Bounty Hunters for the upset by 5 points.

COMMISH'S PICK: NH Bounty Hunters

Hein!!! scored more than any other team last week, despite Golden Tate's suspension. Can they keep it up? ESPN projections put them at 107 this week. I think that's generous. On the other hand, Flash Dem TD's isn't even projected to break 100 points. C'mon ESPN! These are the defending champs we're talking about. The last time they played Hein!!!, they put up 161. The time before that, they put up 112. And, 113 the time before that. Do you see a trend? TD's will certainly score more than 110. Hein!!! will not. Bank it.

COMMISH'S PICK: Flash Dem TD's

This is bullshit. Second week in a row I've been picked to lose.
