LINE: Los Perros Locos -12
The longest running rivalry in SCL history doesn't seem to carry as much weight this season. I can't imagine too many people are getting excited about a matchup between two bottom-feeders struggling to stay relevant this early in the season. Nevertheless, these two have split the 24 games they've played, though Dak holds a 9-5 advantage against Perros when playing on their own turf. They've each lost their last two games so I guess the good news is that one of them will end their losing streak - unless they somehow tie, which is entirely possible given how bad they are. Los Perros are coming off their worst week of the season (74 pts) and Dak is the lowest scoring team in the league (87.83 pts/game). What I'm trying to say is that I think you might find the new episode of Good Witch - Secrets of Grey House airing on the Hallmark channel this weekend to be more interesting.
COMMISH'S PICK: Los Perros Locos
LINE: Chief Sticky Balls -8
Lost in all the chatter about teams racking up 200 points every week against Badazz Bri is the fact that teams have done incredibly well against Chief Sticky Balls too. The last 3 teams to play the Balls have scored 139, 156, and 136. Even though no one - and I mean no one - has allowed points like Bri this season, teams are averaging over 130 points per week against Sticky Balls. This bodes well for Team RamRod who is 3-1 all-time at home against Chief Sticky Balls. Ever since they completed their trade with Hein!!!, RamRod has looked like a different team. They haven't lost in the two weeks since and it looks like they shouldn't have a problem this week either. Did I mention that Chief Sticky Balls' average score at RamRod's place is only 77.75 points? It's true. Look it up. And when you're done, put your money on RamRod for the upset.
COMMISH'S PICK: Team RamRod
LINE: Badazz Bri -7
It has been two weeks since Badazz Bri last allowed a 200-point game. I like their odds to continue that streak this week with Flash Dem TD's missing a couple of their star receivers out on bye. The last time these two faced off was in the 2nd round of the playoffs last season where TD's won 158-129. I can't imagine - though maybe I should - Flash Dem TD's coming anywhere near 150 points this week. Nearly every one of TD's individual player matchups this week look tough. Plus, they only average 98 points per game when playing at home against Badazz Bri. And it's not like TD's is 4-2 because they're crushing the competition. In their last 2 victories, they've scored 100 points and 99 points, suggesting they've had some luck in the scheduling department. This season's history aside, I really like Bri's odds to finally get that elusive first win this week. Doesn't their luck have to change eventually?
COMMISH'S PICK: Badazz Bri
LINE: Thundabuddies -16
Get your packie run in early, put down the clickah, and settle in - the annual SCL Chowda Bowl kicks off this weekend and I expect it'll be a wicked good game. After a tough loss to Team RamRod last week, the Thundabuddies are looking to bang a 'uey and get back on track. But they'll need more than 4 points from Aaron Jones this week to do that. Some tough individual player matchups could restrict their scoring, but I still like their odds of bouncing back this week. However, the Bounty Hunters are no leaf peepers when visiting Flash Gordon Field. In 8 visits, the Bounty Hunters have split the series while averaging 111.38 points to 'Buddies 114. They should be a tough play again this week on the heels of their best game this season (139 points). Neither team is really hampah'd by the bye week so I expect we'll see some good output on both sides. I think Thundabuddies has a slight uppah hand in this matchup and should be the one standing atop The Old Man when it's all said and done.
COMMISH'S PICK: Thundabuddies
LINE: Pork Chop Express -21
Who Is You is trending in the wrong direction over the past two weeks and they're facing an uphill battle this week. They've lost their last two games and they just surrendered 1st place in the Cactus division to a Pork Chop Express team that is heating up. Pork Chops and Who Is You have split the 6 games they've played at They Are Me Arena with the Chops averaging 117.83 points to You's 117.67. But, interestingly, Who Is You is 5-1 in their last 6 games against Pork Chop Express, including the playoffs, which suggests they might have their number. The biggest problem for You this time around is that while the Chops are without Nick Chubb (20.2 pts per game), they still have The Shew (17.2 pts per game). How can they fail with a mustache like that leading the way?!? And although Who Is You has a number of favorable player matchups, a few of their key players - Mahomes, Seattle D/ST, and Chark Jr - have tough games this week. I could be convinced Who Is You will cover the spread, but I still think they come up short, 117-113.
COMMISH'S PICK: Pork Chop Express
LINE: Blue Ribbon -11
This game could very well be a mid-season preview of the Sagebrush Division Championship Game. Hit Em With The Hein!!! is having a great season and this will be their biggest test yet. Although they're 6-0, they've only faced one team with a winning record. This game is just the first step in a tough second half of the season for them. If you've been paying attention to Blue Ribbon's weekly scores, you've probably noticed a scoring trend: up, down, up, down. Well, even though they won last week, they failed to break 100 points. The last time they missed the 100-point mark, they followed up with 140 points. And, the time before that, they followed up a poor week with 200 points. In their previous two visits to Hein!!!, Ribbon is 2-0 and averages 126 points. Over the past 5 weeks, Ribbon is averaging 123.6 points per game. Every metric points to Blue Ribbon putting up some serious points this week. But they're going to be facing a stingy Hein!!! team that is ranked #2 in the points-allowed category. In a classic matchup of offense versus defense, I'll take defense every time. Hodor!
COMMISH'S PICK: Hit Em With The Hein!!!
