Week 7 Commish's Picks

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

Over the course of the past 3 weeks, these two teams have been near, or at, the bottom of the league in scoring. So, if it's offensive production you're looking for, you might consider following something further down this list. After a pair of inter-league games, Los Perros Locos are 1-1 and averaging only 87.5 points against their rivals. On the other side of the ball, home field has not been kind to TD's where they're 0-2 and getting trounced by an average of 56.5 points per game. Either way you slice it, there isn't much to go on in predicting this matchup. Both teams are banged up and struggling to stay relevant and since each team has one of the Chargers RBs, the one that has a better day should win the game for their team.

LINE: Flash Dem TD's -8

COMMISH'S PICK: Los Perros Locos

You can forget the fact that these teams have split the 4 games they've played in the past at the House of Harmony or that the average margin of victory is less than 3 points. What you should focus on instead is that McMingle is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. NH Bounty Hunters? Not so much. The highest score the Bounty Hunters have posted so far this season is 122 points which happens to be just slightly lower than the average weekly score for McMingle. Moreover, McMingle is sitting atop the Sagebrush division, thanks to a 4-game winning streak, while the Bounty Hunters have yet to win this season. I give NH Bounty Hunters zero chance of winning this game and may God have mercy on their souls.

LINE: Christian McMingle -23

COMMISH'S PICK: Christian McMingle

The good news for Who Is You is that they're 6-3 all-time against Golden Tate Warriors. And even better, they're 5-0 when they're the visiting team. But, this time around, they're hosting this contest at I Are They Stadium where they've surrendered 3 of 4 games to the Warriors and lose by an average of over 26 points per game. Even worse for You is the fact that Golden Tate is 3-1 on the road this season and scoring an average of 114 points in those games. All this is to say that I completely understand why Golden Tate is a big favorite to win. However, something in my gut tells me that this matchup will be the upset of the week. Although I did just return from Mexico, so that may be something else I'm feeling in my gut.

LINE: Golden Tate Warriors -17

COMMISH'S PICK: Who Is You

The Pork Chop Express was derailed last week when their 5-game winning streak ended in a crushing loss to Thunda Buddies. This week they'll look to get back on track when they host Blue Ribbon first time in league history. In the 5 games that Ribbon has hosted against Pork Chop Express, they've won 4 and their only loss came just last season. This probably explains why Blue Ribbon is the favorite this week. But, don't forget that in inter-league play this season, the Chops are averaging 135.5 points to Ribbon's 100 points. This should be a high-scoring affair, but I expect Blue Ribbon will give the Chops some big trouble down in Little China.

LINE: Blue Ribbon -10

COMMISH'S PICK: Blue Ribbon

Without the likes of Jefferson, Tucker, and the Ravens D/ST, I'm not sure we'll see Thunda Buddies score as they have over the past 5 weeks where they're averaging over 143 points per game. But they still have plenty of talent on this team and they're heading out on the road again where they've won 3 of 4 this season. The problem is that they're heading down to the Nether Region to face a Sticky Balls team that has beaten them in 6 of 8 contests. In fact, Chief Sticky Balls has had their way with the Buddies over the past 3 years, scoring 136 points against them last season, 144 points in 2018, and 150 points in 2017. That's an average score of 143.3 points against Thunda Buddies over their last 3 matchups. This game should be one of the best to watch this week.

LINE: Thunda Buddies -5

COMMISH'S PICK: Thunda Buddies

Why is this the Matchup of the Week (MOTW), you ask? Pffffft. Isn't it obvious? I mean, just one look at these two teams should eliminate all skepticism. OK, you caught me. Being the gracious, benevolent soul that I am, I always try to get a MOTW for every team in the league at least once per season. And with the way the season has gone for these two so far, it seemed a good opportunity to check them both off my list during the same week. You could call it a pity-pick, really. As far as the matchup goes, I won't hold out much hope for a great game. For the past 3 weeks, Dak has outscored Badazz Bri's highest score of the season, 106 points. And, if you narrow the scope down to just the last 2 weeks, Dak is averaging 38.5 points more per week than Bri. 38.5 more points. Per week. Sure, you could counter with the fact that Baby Got Dak has historically averaged only 89 points per game when visiting Badazz Bri. And, you could also point out that these two played each other well last season with Dak barely winning, 131 to 128. But, the statistic that stands out in my mind is the fact that the last time Dak traveled to the Drink 'Em if You Got 'Em Dome, they posted an impressive 178 points.

LINE: Badazz Bri -1

COMMISH'S PICK: Baby Got Dak
