80.
That's the lowest score that Flash Dem TD's has scored in a single week all season. It also happens to be the lowest score that Badazz Bri has allowed all season. When you put those two together, the end result is that Bri finally broke their losing streak.
Yes, it's true. Badazz Bri finally got their first win and it only took them half a season to do it. In fairness, I really don't believe they'll lose another 6 before their next regular season win. Not only because it's mathematically impossible, but I really do believe they're better than their record.
Now, before you think about mocking that, consider the fact that there are a few of you that are now only 1 game better than that. I'm looking at you Perros, RamRod, and Dak.
But, Flash Dem TD's wasn't the only one around the league posting low scores. Nearly all of you did.
Week 7 was the lowest scoring week of the season across the league with only 1125 points. The previous worst was week 4, when the league scored 1131 total points.
And in a "down" week, bizarre things seem to happen.
For example, the matchup between Perros and Dak, two of the worst teams in the league, happened to be the highest scoring matchup. Conversely, the matchup between Ribbon and Hein!!!, two of the top teams in the league, happened to finish as one of the lowest.
Some of those league-wide scoring problems can be attributed to injury. Alvin Kamara ended up sitting out. Patrick Mahomes and Matt Ryan each went down in their games before scoring anything significant.
The injury to Patrick Mahomes will no doubt hurt Who Is You in the coming weeks, but consider that 7 of the 12 Golden Tickets have him as their QB. I think we're going to see that contest get interesting as teams with other QBs will now have an advantage while he's out.
One constant for this week was the Patriots D/ST. At their current clip, the Pats D is on pace to shatter league records for defensive scoring. They're less than 100 points away from scoring more than our current record holder, the 2013 Seattle Seahawks. Who would've guessed Chief Sticky Balls best scoring player would be their D/ST? And to think, they only paid $3 for them.
Kudos to Hein!!! this week for getting to 7-0 and putting 3 games between themselves and the second place Sagebrush teams. It's interesting to consider that they might clinch a playoff spot within the next 2 weeks. If they win their next 2 games and Chief Sticky Balls loses their next two, I believe that's it...they'll clinch.
Lastly, I apologize for the late and brief post this week. Consumed with "Commish" work, I considered skipping this post, but thought that wouldn't be right with Bri finally getting their first win and deserving of some recognition. Beside, who knows if I'll get another chance to write about them winning this season.
Another .500 week in the books. I just can't seem to get over that hump and I'm beginning to think you guys might be conspiring against me.
With this being the lowest scoring week of the season, it was no problem putting together my Waiver Wire team.
Good luck in week 8!
